Golden Lions coach Johan Ackermann is hoping that his team can grow after their 41-13 victory over the Blue Bulls in their Absa Currie Cup opener at Ellis Park. Ackermann said what was pleasing for him was the way the youngsters played when they came onto the field……

Ackermann said that his team was not desperate with getting a bonus point victory as it was important that they win but Ackermann it was pleasing to be able to get the extra point as it will be important at the end of the competition…..

Golden Lions captain Warren Whiteley said that he was satisfied with the win and credited much of it to the substitutions that came on in the latter stages of the game…..

Whiteley said that his team will still need to improve on their victory and that it is important that they were able to get continuity from Super Rugby as they have had no change in the player personnel…..
