Springbok team doctor Craig Roberts confirmed last night that Stormers centre Damian de Allende has been ruled out for the remainder of the Castle Lager Inbound tour. De Allende injured his knee in the Super Rugby match between the Sharks and Stormers and is expected to be out of action for four to six weeks with a grade two medial ligament strain…….

Roberts said that there weren’t any other injuries in the squad includiong from the overseas-based players except for the normal bumps and bruises…..

Roberts explained the injury conundrum regarding Frans Steyn as one that needs to be managed. Steyn is suffering from a knee cartilage injury in his right knee and Roberts says that it is a matter of managing the time Steyn spends on the training field especially with his kicking. However, Roberts expects Steyn to be fit and available for selection ahead of this weekend’s Test against the World XV in Cape Town…….

Schalk Burger is also suffering from a neck injury which Roberts says has improved and that Burger should resume training today with the rest of the squad and should be available for selection……
