Today marks a very important day in the history of the world. On this day June 6th 1944, D-Day tens of thousands of young men sacrificed their life in the fight for freedom of the world. Our own country was deeply involved in World War Two, men were sent to fight everywhere in the air, on the sea and on the landing grounds and it didn’t matter what color they were. Both black and white men from this country and around the world paid a price in the Normandy landing.

D-Day was the largest invasion ever undertaken and laid the foundations for the Allied defeat of Germany in World War II. Some of the troops killed in that war were from United States, the UK, France and Canada landing on five stretches of the Normandy coastline -- codenamed Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword beaches.
