With shortened life cycles, & increased counterfeit risks, we can no longer support product demand through traditional life cycle management processes. Long lasting programs demand predictable forecasts; however as products age & face the risk of obsolete and counterfeit parts, ongoing supply & support are rarely predictable. It is common for engineering, & procurement teams to be hunting for reliable sources long after a last time buy or an end-of-life event, leaving critical programs vulnerable to counterfeit electronics. Counterfeit avoidance requires an approach assessing the entire program demand & managing realities of a volatile supply chain, while addressing the risk on individual parts. If supply chain can’t address today’s environment, counterfeits will remain present as a result of ongoing demand.
