The South African national netball team, Spar Proteas were crowned the 2018 Diamond Challenge champions in Seshego, Poloka yesterday. They won all their matches wrapping up the week-long tournament with 73-44 victory over Zimbabwe on the final day at the Ngoako Ramatlhodi indoor sports complex. The Proteas also dominated the individual tournament awards with captain Bongiwe Msomi named overall player of the tournament and Rome Dreyer being best center court. Proteas head coach Norma Plummer was happy with the strong finish. The host country was using this tournament to prepare next year’s Quad series where they will face opposition like New Zealand and England. Plummer emphasised the importance of watching the SA president’s XII compete at the tournament.
