Boxing South Africa (BSA) manager in the Eastern Cape Phakamile Jacobs has hailed reigning World Boxing Organisation (WBO) bantamweight champion Zolani “Last Born” Tete following his first successful defence of his belt. Mdantsane-born Tete made history when he stopped challenger Siboniso Gonya in 11 seconds of the first round at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on Saturday night. As a result of the win, Tete beat former WBO junior-featherweight Daniel Jiménez’s record, which he set when he stopped Harald Geier in 17 seconds on 3 September 1994.
