Event organisers of the 2017 Old Mutual Soweto Marathon have called on runners who were not able to enter before the cut-off date in June, to secure a substitution entry before the end of September. Organisers have opened a window for substitutions which enables a runner to officially take over the entry of an athlete that needs to withdraw from the race. The Soweto Marathon sold out early in June, making history by reaching full capacity for the 10km, 21km and the 42.2km marathon. Grant Panter from the Soweto Marathon race clarifies the process.
