Gold medal hopeful paralympian archer Shaun Anderson says representing South Africa at the upcoming Rio 2016 Paralympic Games will be a dream come true in just over a month from now. The Paralympics Games are scheduled to start on eptember 7th-18.th The 43-year-old, who overcame a life-threatening illness and had to remodel his shooting action in the past two years, says he is honored to be part of Team South Africa. The Tuks Archery Club member, Anderson, says he believes that he is thoroughly prepared with the hope of returning with a medal. The para-archer won Gold at the Archery National and World Champs last year, competing with able-bodied people, to reaffirm his challenge for a medal in Rio. Anderson thanked his support structure for their continuous support during the difficult times in preparation for the Paralympics. After sacrificing and losing almost everything including his job in order to live his dream of representing South Africa a the Paralympics, Anderson mostly thank his immediate family for the extra support. Nicknamed ‘The One Arm Bandit, ’Anderson adds that the key to achieving anything in life is believing in one’s self and their ability.
