After a good performance in the recent Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland Swimming South Africa is positive

that a new sponsor is on its way. Despite good performances at the London 2012 Olympics, Swimming SA just like Athletics

South Africa has been struggling operating without a sponsor. The federation is need of financial aid as they aim to

The recent Commonwealth Games in Scotland proved once again that Swimming is a major sporting in the country when it comes

to the multi-coded sporting events as they returned with 12 medals out of the 40 achieved. Out of the six medals SA got in

London three came from swimming including two gold medals. Swimming SA CEO Shaun Adriaanse says results are there for

everyone to see that they are achievers…

The overall focus for SASCOC and it’s Olympic federations is preparing for Rio 2016 and improving from the six medals from

London. Adriaanse says their preparations are starting now and couldn’t stop talking about the phenomenon that is Chad Le

Clos…

In the past three years, Le Clos has achieved what many South African sports personalities in recent years have failed to

do, consistently putting the country on the map. In Glasgow he equaled Australian legend Ian Thorpe’s record of seven

medals in the Commonwealth Games. He’s now won 12 medals from the games, including the five medals from Delhi in 2010.

Adriaanse says they will be prioritizing Le Clos’ training programme going to Rio 2016…

Despite all these achievements, Swimming SA continues to operate without a major sponsor after Telkom left them few years

ago. The lack of TV coverage for swimming in the country is another challenge and Adriaanse is hoping that the mooted DTT

project will help sporting codes like swimming…
