You want your employees to have fun at work, but they also have a job to do, and as a manager, it your responsibility balance workplace fun with a focus on performance. Top-performing employees thrive in a culture that have set expectations and an environment in which employees are held accountable. Therefore, the more clarity you can bring to the expectation you set the easier it is for all your employees. Ideally there are specific metrics attached to the expectation so you can hold your employees accountable for meeting them and provide recognition when they do. Recognize that top performers expect you to both reward your employees who meet and exceed your standards, and address poor performance with people who fail to meet those same expectations. This week’s episode is focused on addressing those employees who fail to meet your expectations, do not meet their goals and/or exhibit bad behavior.
