Have you ever had a great coach? Someone who pushed you beyond what you thought you could attain? Part of being a great manager means being a great coach. Many managers believe they are good coaches simply because they have done their employee’s job previously, and based on their past success believe they know how to coach the employee to attain at the same level. In fact, most training programs are based upon this belief. However, this is a limited approach as it does not occur to the coach they the individual they are coaching may not be capable of demonstrating those same behaviors.
