The 30th commemoration of the plane crash in which the late Mozambican president Samora Machel and 34 government officials died, has been a three decade talking point for the region’s politics.

The late President of Mozambique and 34 people died in a mysterious plane crash on 19 October 1986. His presidential aircraft crashed in mountainous terrain where the borders of Mozambique, Swaziland and South Africa converge.
