Most of the South Africans eligible to vote in the special vote held in Zimbabwe were able to do so, according to the officials. 32 people had voted out of the 40 registered, when polling ended at 9pm last night. After the vote, embassy officials packed the ballot envelopes into a courier bag destined for the IEC in Pretoria. Officials described the early election as a success despite five people being turned away after their names were not found on the special voter's register for Harare. They had apparently failed to alert the IEC they intended to vote in Harare by the February deadline.
