The Gauteng Education Department is considering suspending the school principal of the Mpontsheng Secondary School in Katlehong in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, following allegations that he gave an answer sheet to learners who were writing the Geography 1 exam paper recently. The alarm was raised by a concerned parents who reported the matter to exam quality body Umalusi. The Department of Basic Education says the principal has been removed as chief invigilator and that the provincial department may suspend him while the probe takes place.
