Banks will no longer be able to throw their hands up in the air on the issue of illegal debit orders. Consumers have been up in arms over the years regarding deductions made from their accounts without authorisation. These transactions have been going undetected because banks only notify their clients if a payment of more than R100 is made. A new system known as DebiCheck will compel the banks to seek permission from their clients everytime a company wants to effect a debit order.
