The ANC in Gauteng has nominated Cyril Ramaphosa as its preferred candidate to lead the ruling party. Ramaphosa garnered 374 votes. The position of Deputy President went to Lindiwe Sisulu with 182 votes. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma garnered 64 of the votes for the position of president. Over 400 delegates from six regions in Gauteng convened at the Provincial General Council in Irene, Pretoria, to nominate their presidential candidates and to discuss policy ahead of the party's National Elective Conference later this month.
