Two people have died in KwaZulu-Natal as a result of the storm that is ravaging the province. The fatalities are in the Nquthu municipality in the north of the province where one person was struck by lightning while the other drowned trying to cross a river. A number of roads have been closed to traffic in the eThekwini municipality and other areas on the south coast. The storm also left a trail of destruction in Gauteng and Limpopo.
