The area of Sterkspruit in the Eastern Cape continues with its shutdown today as businesses including banks, shops and some government offices remain closed. Residents looted shops belonging to foreign nationals yesterday during a standoff with police which left two people injured and two suspects arrested. The Sterkspruit Civic Association is demanding water and a proper health system among other things. The chairperson of the Sterkspruit Civic Association Mncebisi Mkotjho gave us an update on the situation.
