Mxolisi Nyuswa of the KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council says they have been deploying teams to hotspots including hostels in the province to monitor the volatile situation that has resulted in political killings. Nyuswa is testifying before the Moerane Commission investigating political killings in the province. He also sighted the competition for councillor position and political power as some of the reasons behind the ongoing killings. He says control over who has oversight on tenders is also at the core of the killings especially of the municipal officials. Our reporter Nonkululeko Hlophe is attending the hearings at Glebelands hostel in Umlazi.
