Various stakeholders in the basic education sector have agreed to put the interests of the learners first, even in times of disagreements. This came out of the three day Basic Education Lekgotla attended by officials from all provincial education departments, unions, school governing bodies and other interested parties in Pretoria. They've been reflecting on the work done to improve the education system in the past few years and to discuss possible solutions to the challenges plaguing the system.
