Students at Rhodes University turned to social media to expose the actions of police during their protest this morning. In various posts on facebook and twitter, students claimed that police fired rubber bullets, stun grenades and pepper spray. The protests - under the hashtag RUReferenceList - were sparked by concerns that the university protects the perpetrators of rape instead of victims. Earlier, Rhodes University spokesperson Catherine Deiner said that victims of sex crimes must report them.
