Regalena Melrose, Ph.D., a clinical and school psychologist whose work on old brain versus new brain theory demonstrated the dire consequences of misdiagnosing children as ADHD who in fact suffered from PTSD. While working at Long Beach Unified School District in California she deepened her knowledge about childhood trauma and that its manifestations in students are not only psychological, but physiological as well.
She created a number of resources and books to teach basic knowledge of stress and trauma and their impact on the brain, as well as the “do’s and don’ts” of helping stressed or traumatized children and adults. Today we discuss her newest book, The 60 Seconds Fix: The Brain-Changing Toolkit that Stops Unwanted Habits and Starts Surprising Joy.
