Freedom Song is a vocal offering by ArinMaya that ties together music from the late 1800s, early 1900s and not-so-early 2000s. Spirituals and freedom songs popularized by greats Mahalia Jackson and the Fisk Jubilee Singers come together with music from Common's "Letter to the Free" to create this mashup. Meant to encourage and inspire us to keep moving towards freedom, Freedom Song is a celebration of the past and an encouragement towards what ArinMaya sees will be a freer, more beautiful AfroFuture for us all.
