Matt Flack aka G3CKO discovered his passion for turntables & mixing vinyl. Through a friend who used to mix Hip Hop in the late 80s. This then developed in a very personal way, by discovering the sounds coming out of Detroit & Chicago at around the same time. Artists like Innercity, Steve Silk Hurley, Farley Jackmaster Funk were hitting the charts in the UK. So this sound of a fresh hypnotic dance groove was beginning to have an impact on his mind. Also the UK rave explosion of acts like LFO, 808 State, Nightmares on wax & more. Were increasing a personal intrigue into this brand new dynamic of music & rave culture. At around 1990 he experienced his first regular club on a weekly basis through the sounds & selection of Dj SY (Venus Notts). The beginning of a new era and direction had started to breath life. From 1990 - 93 in his own city of Nottingham through venues like Venus, Marcus Garvey Centre, and raves around the Midlands Area. The sound of Techno music was having a huge personal impact on preference of exactly where he was heading. During this period he also got his first Turntables, buying records & trying to mix. Spending hours around the record shops, meeting like minded people & spending every bit of money on vinyl. The addiction had begun! Also he had played some parties in Nottingham & Derby so the experience for playing behind the speakers was a new adventure for sure. During the second half of the 90s & early 2000s he was privilaged to discover 2 clubs Orbit & Atomic Jam. This is where the true sound of techno from all the great artists was being heard. Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Dave Angel, Andrew Weatherall, Thomas Heckmann, Robert Hood, Aphex Twin etc etc. And yet again these experiences were profound. Then and now this remains deep and emotional memories, and a defining era in his personal music make-up as an individual. G3CKO also ran his podcast channel Reptilian Transmission on Fnoob Techno Radio for 3 years. But now focuses solely on Solemne Records label, which he co founded with Cyd & Clefomat in 2018.
