The lesson that the Democrats, and its allied media, should have learned in the last few weeks is that a big story, like the limited capacity of the occupant of the White House, cannot be kept under wraps for very long. Yet here we are back in the same old mold with Harris trying to be invisible while running for POTUS. I still think Americans won’t buy it because the illegitimacy inherent in how she came to be the Democratic nominee. But the Democrats and the media clearly think they have Americans bamboozled enough to pull it off. But there are a lot of stories “hidden” out there that will reveal Harris for who she is as surely as the debate reveled Biden’s limited capacity. Number 1 on that list of hits is California and its problems with crime. Bear in mind that prior to her election to the US Senate in 2017 Harris served two terms as the chief law enforcement officer for the State of California. A state that is riddled with crime.

She and Biden keep trying to tell us crime is down, but hogwash. California in particular has gotten completely out-of-hand.

Southern California suffered a minor quake yesterday. One of the major reasons my wife and I left there in our retirement was we no longer had confidence in the state, and local’s, ability to respond to just such an emergency. We lived there through the damaging Northridge quake which was hugely interruptive and economically costly despite being relatively moderate and both the governor and LA mayor at the time being extraordinarily competent. We were very worried the incompetent bunch of boobs in charge now would only make matters worse in such an event. So, as news of the quake broke, through the miracle of the internet, we tuned into local LA news outlets to 1) make sure our remaining friends there were OK and 2) to pridefully pound our chests were we proven right. The quake yesterday was not severe enough for either to be a genuine concern, so we were quickly tuned into the “normal” news out of SoCal.

And that is when this story popped up:

The owners of Solez, a recently opened shoe store in La Cañada Flintridge, say they are frustrated after getting burglarized for the second time in a week.

Now, what non-SoCalers need for this is context. La Cañada Flintridge is not just another small suburban community immediately outside of L.A. proper. My wife and I lived adjacent to that very toney little berg but not in it – it was way too expensive for us. Its denizens include former and perhaps future White House officials; I ran into Dennis Prager in a restaurant there a few times so I presume he lives there, and most visibly Kevin Costner was a resident until relatively recently. So while not quite as she-she as Beverly Hills, Brentwood or Bel-Air, La Cañada Flintridge is home to the rich-and-famous. Definitely not a place where you would expect smash-and-grab burglaries to be the order of the day. Yet here we are, a store there was hit twice in a week. That’s California, where the crime cannot be escaped, even by those with the means to go anywhere.

That’s Harris’ California. “She hasn’t been AG for quite a while now,” will inevitably come the retort. Yeah well, except California Democratic politics is a really small group of people. So, while California has reached its deepest depth to date under Newsom and with her in D.C. – they both, Newsom and Harris, learned their trade at the feet of Willie Brown – they are cut from the same cloth. As has gone California so will go the nation should Kamala Harris be elected president. After all, she hijacked the nomination, petty crime like this is just not an issue.

ADDENDUM (The next morning) – Only in California:

Protesters from the group IfNotNow Los Angeles walked onto the southbound 405 Freeway near Venice Boulevard around 9 a.m. PT Tuesday creating an instant traffic jam.

Now, they had this mess broken up in about fifteen minutes – but again, context is necessary. This is the fourth busiest freeway in the nation. Carrying, in just the southbound direction, roughly 250,000-300,000 cars per day. The 210 freeway, near my former home carried half that much. Interstate 40 – the major east/west interstate in the southern tier of the nation, near my home here in Tennessee carries only 100,000, and that only in the last year as work on other east/west corridors have slowed them. A fifteen-minute closure on the 405 in this portion of LA creates a massive jam that takes couple of hours to clear.
