Common Ground Carson Church in Northern Nevada is about expanding the kingdom of God in our lives and the world around us. Our focus is on evangelism and discipleship.

Choose blessing by prioritizing fellow believers and returning good for evil. You are favored as His child, so pursue godliness.
Jesus came on a rescue mission to set us free from sin.

Do not envy the non believing rich or hoard the wealth you have. Patiently endure poverty, abuse, and hardship knowing God will judge the wicked and glorify the believer.
The gospel is the good news that Jesus came to save us by dying on the cross for our sins and rising from the dead. We receive salvation through belief and placing our faith in Jesus as Lord.
We are sent as representatives of Christ and entrusted with God's message of reconciliation.
Jesus definitively removed the barrier between God and man. How then should we respond?
Run the race of your life to win the prize! Endure to the end and receive what God has promised.
How to break the grip of the rip. Spiritual drift is disastrous, so pay attention to and obey the word of God.
What is the most valuable emotion in hard times?
Hope in God's promises produces faithful endurance through hard times.
Living faithfully as a temporary resident of Earth.
Hold on to your identity Christ and give Him the last say.

How did Jesus deal with the problem of sin and guilt?
Big Idea: Jesus was judged so we don't have to be.
God in his sovereignty has chosen primarily to work through His people, not around them.
The joy of your salvation means you can experience the peace of God even in the midst of conflict and the struggle against remaining sin.
To break out of the rut, we must realize that we can't do life alone. We need God and we need each other.
Practical steps to experience God's best.
We were not saved for a task to perform but for a relationship to enjoy, time with God must be a priority.
Do not tolerate heresy in the church, true righteousness by faith alone - know God. Truth
Philippians 2:19-30
Christian unity is never abstract and has clear markers we need to use for self-evaluation.
Without unity the church cannot carry out its life-giving mission. Without unity the world has no reason to listen to us.
God is in control and we use every circumstance for His purposes. We can have peace in that, and joy at the movement of the gospel.
Every Jesus follower is intended to find a home and a family among a local church body.
The eternal Son became flesh and entered into the whole of human existence and experience and retains and bears His humanity forever.
What were God's people expecting in the coming Messiah?
They were anticipating the King who would be victorious over Satan and set up a righteous Kingdom. Jesus did both, the second will be fully realized later.
A right understanding of God's sovereignty is the best solution to most of what we nowadays call "mental illness".
True followers of Jesus recognize falsehoods and boldly engage the world with the truth.

Christians are warned that in these last days we must watch out for the enemies of God trying to deceive.

All of our family and relationship issues can be traced to our "old self". Our identity apart from Jesus Christ is one of sin and selfishness. But we have been redeemed - and will be fully redeemed on the day that Christ returns (vs. 30). Until the day of complete redemption we are a work in progress - but that is no excuse.
Did God really flood the Earth saving one family on a big boat?
Sin, Judgement, Grace
Salvation through faith. God flooded the Earth, judged sin, next time with fire. Not the first rainbow.
- Did it happen? 2. Is there extra biblical evidence? 3. Why did it happen?
Mary was a virgin. Jesus was conceived by the H.S. which is necessary for His identity. Just and Justifier, adoption, fully man, fully God.
How are we as Christians to relate to one another on matters of opinion and conscience?
Big Idea: God is up to great things through His people. Do we believe it and expect it? The future of the church is God doing great things in and through His people.
In response to who God is and His mercy, we offer our complete selves as a living sacrifice transformed by the word of God.
IT'S NOT ABOUT ME-IT IS ABOUT HIM!!
How does what I know about Heaven impact my life today?
Big idea: Because we have out on Christ, think about Heaven, live Godly.
Heaven is a real place and those who believe in Jesus in this life will be there, along with the angels and Jesus.
Are we focused on obstacles or opportunities when thinking about sharing Jesus with our world? Acts 17: 16-34
Where is God taking us as a church?
Our Vision: We are fueling a movement of God's people surrendered to His mission wherever He places us!
How do I discern if something is of God or not?
We can be deceived by our emotions, and by others.
We are converted when we believe and repent. Then God imparts to us new life, we are regenerated. God does it, not optional.
You don't have to dress up, pretend to be perfect, or worry about your past, just come to Jesus.
In a time of crisis we remain obedient and and on mission through fellowship, remembering God's sovereignty, and scripture, then obey.
Jesus is Lord and Christ who died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead. Repent, and be baptized. Don't shy away from the truth!
Acts 2:14-36
The coming of the H.S. means God is present in his people. Wow! His presence empowers us for his mission to share the gospel.
The Church is a movement, are we willing to be a part of the movement of God? (Acts 1:1-11)
Philippian 4:4-7
How are we to respond to all the uncertainty and instability affecting almost every aspect of life?
Loving are neighbor is not about who they are and what qualifications they meet. It is about who we are in christ and how that changes the way we see those around us.
What do we mean when we say people are made in the image of God,and why does it matter?
How can a Jesus follower glorify God while living as a citizen under a corrupt and ungodly ruler?
After God miraculously provides for God's people, it's important to be faithful in answering the question, "What now?"
Wisdom compels the Jesus Follower to make plans in submission to God.
Proverbs 16:9, "The heart of a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his Steps."
To be used greatly by God we must recognize this is not our home and have a healthy detachment to the things of this world. Then God can stir in us a holy discontent.

Big Idea: Peter warns believers to stand on the truth of Scripture and beware of false teachers.
Grow in virtue, walking in the holiness provided and prove your faith, the kingdom awaits.

The Gospel of the Kingdom vs. the Gospel of Salvation
Big Idea: Jesus wants to be your King, then everyone else's King also.

Big Idea: true joy is found in Jesus and an eternal perspective not through what the world can offer.
Big Idea: There is a defeated enemy coming at us. Jesus gives us all we need in Him to experience consistent victory.
Big Idea - Let the Spirit lead you in your roles as a child, father, employee, employer, do it the way the greater designer planned.
Signs of new life: our speech, our temper, our work. because you are new, put effort into letting the Holy Spirit change these things.
Because of who we are "in Christ" and our calling we live different. Specifically we emphasize unity.
The new one body of Christ is the temple of God and is the mode in which God will make Himself know to the world.
Idolatry is death. Because of who God is and what He has done, our responsibility is to repent and believe. Then receive the abundant and restful life in Him! Need proof? Jesus rose from the dead.

The suffering experienced in our lives reveals the grace of God and draws us closer to the one who suffered for us.

Big Idea: In Christ, you are more than just a sinner saved by grace. You are made into something infinitely valuable and useful. Who I am is who I am IN Christ.

On this Easter Sunday Derrik talks about Heaven , I know a little different form what is normal preached on easter but so importaint. In the beginning God created everything and called it good. Because God is good and He created people to love Him, He also gave them the freedom to rebel. When we rebelled, sin entered the world. This is called "the fall" and explains all the pain and suffering on earth.
These week we get another special treat as Pastor Paul goes into week 2 of Jonah of #whyirun. We can run to God with Confidence because of who He is. Enjoy and maybe realy think about why you run. Do you run from God or to God?

There is a God and you are not Him. We have a longing for eternity and a need to worship. All creation points to the glory of God. It's not about me. The barrier to following Jesus is rarely intellectual, it is control.

The raising of Lazarus. Death casued by sin is our greatest enemy. Jesus battled death and won, He is the resurrection and the life.
If a person truly believes that Jesus is the messiah described in the bible and if they truly experience His grace, then their life will change. What will this person give back to God in respponse? Mary is a beautiful example.
The only way to really know someone is to pay attention when they show you their real self. God revealed Himself and His character in Jesus, the Good Shepherd.
Your availabililty to God makes you a candidate to be used by God and to discover His plan for your life.
We need to consistently pray and ask God to show us His plan for us. This includes our jobs and careers. Colossians 3:22-24
God's fingerprints on you are clues about His plan for you. Learn your spiritual gifts and leverage His opportunities for you to use them.
