The only logical response to God’s mercy discussed in chapters 1–11 is to offer Christ our very selves as a living sacrifice. We will see the whole Christian life rises and falls on Romans 12:1–2; that is, it rises and falls on whether or not we obey in “view of God’s mercy,” or motivated by fear. Life lived “in view of God’s mercy” is the antidote to apathy and chronic disobedience.
