In this podcast we explore the life of St Cecilia, the Patron Saint of Music, discover the music that was influenced by her, and look at the politics of how the liturgical music that we sing today came to be celebrated by the church as a whole. Music includes William Byrd’s setting of verses from Psalm 81, Sing joyfully unto God our strength and Herbert Howells’s A Hymn for St Cecilia, with words by Ursula Vaughan Williams.
