Riverpark Church

Riverpark is a unique church located at what used to be Hamel's Amusement Park in Shreveport, Louisiana. We believe that being a Christian has more to do with your everyday life than what goes on between the four walls of a worship center on a Sunday. You are the church, so be the church every day.

Isaiah 43:1 NLT But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. Isaiah 43:1-4 MSG But now, God’s Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob, the One who got you started, Israel: “Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you

God is relentlessly pursuing more of you. –

God pursues you in spite of you. –

God refuses to let our barriers keep Him out. John 4:9 NLT The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?”

– Isiah 43:1 NLT But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.

God is relentlessly pursuing more of you no matter how you see yourself.

SERMON NOTES

1 Peter 5:6 ESV Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you. –

Numbers 12:3 ESV 3 Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth. (some translations interpret this with the word “meek”)

– Matthew 11:29-30 NIV 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

What is humility? A modest or low view of one’s own importance. –

Humility allows things to be dealt with from the inside out at a heart level. –

Humility lives in the tension between a miracle and misery.

1 Peter 5:6-11 ESV Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Put your hat in your hand and let Him cover you.
