Upgrading Friendships in Midlife. Today I share a personal story from the Maine Women’s Conference. Last week, while having lunch, I mentioned that I work as a menopause performance coach, and the woman sitting next to me exclaimed, “Oh my gosh, you’re my new best friend!” This reaction got me thinking about the importance of finding new friends and a supportive tribe as we navigate midlife transformations, especially during menopause. It’s not about abandoning old friendships but seeking out those who can relate to our current journey and growth. I’ve personally experienced this need, and I’ve formed a small group of new besties who understand and support me in this phase of life. If you’re looking to build a new circle of like-minded women, reach out to me at hello@carabradley.net. Let’s create this empowering community together.

Inspired insights for nurturing your inner wisdom — Today I dive into the vital importance of allowing energy to flow freely within us. When it gets blocked, it leads to feelings of being stuck, stagnant, and without purpose. We often find ourselves stressed in such situations. You don’t need all the answers, just the willingness to let that energy move through you. It can happen during dreams, quiet mornings, even while chopping carrots or doing everyday tasks. There’s no set schedule for insights, wisdom, sparks, and guidance to manifest – they just do.

I share a conversation I had with a friend about the concept of “20 is plenty” for daily exercise. We explore how dedicating just 20 minutes a day to moderate movement, including activities like walking, cleaning, gardening, or playing, can have profound benefits. Scientifically, it helps reduce stress hormone cortisol, improves sleep quality, boosts mood-enhancing neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, and even supports brain health. I emphasize the significance of resistance training for muscle preservation and encourage starting with the 20-minute daily routine. It’s a simple but impactful way to prioritize health and well-being.

In this episode, I open up about a period in my life when I found myself in a trance, losing trust in my body and mind, and feeling stuck in outdated beliefs. It’s a story of rediscovery, resilience, and the power of taking small steps.
Over the past four to five years, I’ve transitioned from feeling disempowered to empowered, and it wasn’t an overnight change. It happened gradually, one choice at a time. I began by focusing on simple actions like eating clean, moving my body, and improving my sleep. These choices built on each other, creating strength, resilience, and momentum.
I had to remind myself constantly that my body is intelligent, even during the challenging moments. As I worked through brain fog and hormonal changes, I slowly began to wake up and remember who I truly was beneath the symptoms and discomfort.
This episode is a reminder that change takes patience, self-love, and kindness. If I can do it, you can too. Join me as I share the journey of reclaiming my power and embracing the genius within my body, in the hope that it will inspire and warm your heart as well. Remember, one step at a time, my friend – yes, you can.

In this episode, I’m fired up to share a profound message I received from my friend and women’s health coach, Annie Gaudreault. She dropped this nugget:
“Don’t make settling your default state!”
Annie describes settling as a soul-sucking behavior, when we feel merely “okay” but not great.
It got me thinking. As women, we often fall into the trap of settling for “okay” when, instead, with a little nudge we can aim for great. We have permission to want more – to feel strong, confident, adventurous, and bold.
I want you to know that I’m right there with you on this journey, and I don’t have it all figured out either. Let’s agree to not settle for “okay” when we can feel authentically and uniquely exceptional!
Yes, menopause may bring changes, but it’s not an excuse to settle. We can flip the switch by upgrading our mindset around what is possible.
Don’t let settling be your default state!
If you need support, I’m here to spark, encourage and kick you gently, but lovingly, towards your best self. Let’s embrace the “can do” mindset that keeps us motivated to do what’s necessary to never, ever settle.

When I was teaching yoga regularly at my studio Verge Yoga, I had a saying I would often repeat over and over throughout the class—Yes, you can. Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Warning: this episode may be triggering. Especially if you believe that something "out there" will provide you with the answers.
Someone recently asked me why I whisper on this show. My answer is simple. Whispering is more effective than yelling.
What is your level of curiosity these days? The more distracted and busy we are, the less space for genuine childlike curiosity.
There's no getting around it. We need to release the old—what no longer works—in order to experience the freedom we are seeking.
Introducing... echos from the verge... musings from my soul to yours. Let's live our larger story. Let's go deeper, let go and be wild.
Rules. We live by them. We also accumulate old rules, self inflicted rules. I am breaking my own and I encourage you to do the same.
Timelessness. Time away from predictable and known is a treasure to be valued. Descend and discover your place of timelessness.
You many need to "stop the train" just like I did a few months ago. You many need to press pause on what's no longer working.
I have pep in my step and energy to burn. Coming off of my recent hip surgery has offered me a new lease on life.
Who are you ready to become today? We spend so much time trying hard to "be." Why not start asking who you want to become.
At some point, we need to step beyond self-help practices and show up in the world. Are you there yet? I'd love to know.
Being on the verge is about change. It's also about listening to what's work and what's not. It's scary and exhilarating at the same time.
Go deeper. As the rate of change in our world continues to speed up, we need to continue to go under the surface and find our center.
I'm back live and I have to change the conversation. In this Whisper, I share a recent big shift and uncomfortable ah-ha.
The heart of body intelligence. "Who you are, speak so loudly. I can’t hear what you’re saying" – Ralph Waldo Emerson
While your mind tries to trick you, your body does not lie. You may be nodding your head in agreement, but do you really believe it?
When your body is speedy, there's a good chance your mind will feel speedy as well. Settle your body and your mind will settle too.
We tell ourselves stories. We all do. Some stories are helpful, most are not. Try asking this question. It can help interrupt stories.
Are you busy... or just full of your own self importance? I recently asked myself this question and, ouch, the answers sure did sting! I
Edges, boundaries and verges. The idea of pressing right up against what is known can be both exciting and scary.
Play simple. It’s enough. Simple is powerful, but not easy. And, sometimes we need to go through complexity to find it.
Being centered is like touching or standing on home base. I share how to return to center when life knocks you off balance.
Unbridled power is like a firehose on full blast. It's unstoppable. When are blocked, we get kinked up—just like a garden hose.
Give yourself permission to be sparked! These bursts of insight and creativity are happening all of the time. And, you may be missing them.
Music has the power to transport us immediately. The right song can stop our world from spinning and quickly shift our state.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure
Coming home to your center is one of the most powerful practices you can have in your pocket. Listen in to practice.
Stability. It’s the balance between strength and flexibility and it allows you to walk in this world feeling calm, clear and confident.
Do this over and over — every day. Remember who you are. Go beneath the noise of your daily life and connect with your self and source.
Morning dread. Learn what to do when you wake up with your mind racing about everything you need, can't do, should do, didn't do.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results - Albert Einstein.
Let yourself be clumsy. Go ahead and drop the filters. It’s exhausting anyway! Move past your need to be/look/sound perfect.
It’s always there waiting. That “well” in wellbeing. Press pause. Go beneath the noise—for as long as it takes.
If you want to feel lighter, pretend you are moving! Get rid of stuff where the energy feels stuck. Disrupt it. Make change. Just like that!
Learn how to allow yourself to be in new relationship with life— without putting the pressure on yourself to have it all figured out.
It's really not a matter of what you decide. It's a matter of when. When will you be ready to make the decision?
It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. When will you decide? When will you decide to truly know who you are?
Do you ever hear the call of your soul—like a whisper poking through the veil? When that soul speak emerges, you’re going to want to listen!
Is the target of what you want fuzzy? Before you can expect to get what you want, you're going to have to know exactly, clearly, precisely.
When do you flex your muscles? In other words, where are you practicing being your boldest, most confident, most creative self?
Do you still feel less than? Not enough? Are we still doing this? I’m ready to drop this baggage, once and for all. And I hope you are too.
I will no longer [fill in the blank]. I am 58 years old, and have been working on this my entire life. What will you no longer accept?
Uncertainty. It’s a given in life. We spend our energy trying to predict. Get comfortable with not knowing and watch your energy soar.
What would you do differently if you were in your power? Would you change your job, your health, move locations, change your relationship?
To withstand the onslaught of life you will have to learn to speak from the bottom of your soul." - Jordan Peterson
What are you being right now? What—not who—are you in this moment? In other words, what is the configuration of energy that you are showing up with? Being aware of what you are is the first step to changing who you are.

You are always changing. Everything is always changing. Nothing is static - ever! This notion can be frightening or totally empowering. That’s up to you.
There is a vitality that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you, this expression is unique.
I am just getting started as 58 years old. I feel it in my bones. I feel it in my heart. I'm so ready.
The invisibility factor is real and it needs to change. In this Whisper, I share my story of not being seen for three days.
Don't die wondering what it feels like to be fully alive. Today we talk about owning your power and the questions to ask to get you there.
Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer. Rainer Maria Rilke
Are you living out loud? I ask myself this question—all the time. And then I wrestle with the answers. What does live out loud mean to you?
This process of the good life involves the courage to be. It means launching oneself fully into the stream of life. Carl R. Rogers
At the center of your being you have the answers. And you know what you want. No other place will be better. And it has already turned out.
It's a great trait to have but takes practice to develop. Learn four ways to build the muscle of achieving the status of active listener.
W.A.I.T. Why am I talking? What kind of communicator are you? Do you speak deliberately and consciously? Or, do you sometimes get distracted and run off in unending stories? In other words, are you precise with your speech or do you unconsciously vomit on people? In this fun Whisper, we continue our investigation of looking at specific behaviors as a way to shed light on to how we are living. Today we look at our patterns of speech.

Let's talk about 1) being aware and 2) being more mindful about how/why/when we consume news, social media, emails, texts and more.
How you tend to your everyday life—cooking, cleaning and prepping—points to how you tend to other areas of your life.
Do you speed throughout your day scurrying around? Becoming hyper aware of everyday behaviors leaves clues to you are living.
Honoring the life of Mr. Fantastic—a special man who read the memo on how to intentionally live life well every day.
What are your big rocks—the things you value most in life? Are you focusing on those big rocks or gravel and pebbles?
Do you have a swim buddy, an accountability partner? Learn why having one can be like having a secret weapon.
What are you doing daily to stretch yourself? How are you pressing the boundaries of your comfort zone? Challenge. It’s the only way we grow.
If you want to leave an imprint on this world and share your genius, if you seek to realize your potential, you simply cannot skip this step.
You can't get there without doing this. You can't be of service to others without being centered and stable first.
What if you stopped being so predictable? What if you shook things up? What if you did the opposite? Things are about to get interesting!
Caring about what other people think can be debilitating. What would happen if you stopped? Here's a simple practice to try.
What are your tendencies to force things to happen? This is a cringe-worthy topic. And the big practice… what if you stopped?
Are you a fixer? Is your tendency to always try to make situations better? I was a fixer too... until I stopped.
What if you stop (fill in the blank)? Be your own experiment. Give it a try. It very well may change your life.
What does it take to own your power? What will it take for you to stand tall, be authentic, be self authoring?
What does it take to truly trust yourself? This is a massive question. One of the most common remarks I hear from the women I work with is that they question their own judgment. They question their direction, their passions and purpose. Why do we do this and what will it take for us to finally, once and for all, look to ourselves first? What does it take for us to trust ourselves before we seek the acknowledgement of experts out there? Let’s find out!Mentions:Trust your geniusWe're heading towards the dirt!

The grass is brown everywhere .If we are in constant pursuit of the next shiny object, we’re going to continue to find brown grass.
When we don't feel alone, when we know that it is collective, we learn to ride these rough waters and come out for the better in the end.

What do you need to roll with right now? What situation, person or predicament is squeezing you? Let’s explore.

Where did our constant need for perfection come from? Most women feel imprisioned by this uncanny quest to be perfect, to not stumble.
Not gonna lie. It's been... This is my ice-breaker. It's a prompt to interrupt patterns of perfecting, pleasing, proving and pretending.

The intention of this short series is to share the full picture of my career as an entrepreneur. I talk about starting and closing businesses including the often left out stories of “crash and burn” failures.
In this episode, I move past the burning embers of Blade Skatewear into my next few ventures. I share my fun adventures partnering with Rollerblade, the pioneer of in-line skating.
Oh, and did I mention that there’s ice cream and sprinkles involved? Stay tuned.

I started Blade Skatewear 30 years ago. No matter how much time has passed, the sense of failure is lurking just under the skin. It never really goes away.
In this episode, I speak about my first “real business.” I admit, it was a tough story to tell. Since we usually only hear about success stories, I wanted to lay out the path to why I started Blade and where I went wrong.
I haven’t told the full story in at least a decade and was surprised at how emotional I got in the end.

We are in unprecedented times. These days of shelter in place, and social distancing have changed everything for all of us. In fact, it’s a whole new game. The world as we knew it will never be the same.
And although we face big mountains in front of us, and there is much to do, I see that there are incredible possibilities.
At this time, we have an extraordinary opportunity to change our lives, our communities, our world. I am feeling the call to pivot. I cannot see going back to normal. In fact, I don’t think we can even if we tried.
Normal has changed for all of us all at once. Small businesses in every town in every state, including Verge Yoga, the business I started 15 years ago, are facing the very real possibility that the dreams they made into reality could be coming to an end.
And all the people who are now out of a job are looking at the very real possibility that they may have no choice but to take control of their own steering wheel and find a way to make money in their own venture.
My life as an entrepreneur has been to do just that, to launch ideas into action. To start my own gig.
It feels like the right time to pivot and turn my energies fully toward the things I value most and the ways I can best serve in the days and years to come.
I can only share what I have to give.
Entreprenuer was born from conversations with my daughter who I’ve spend more time with during this month than I have in years. And who has pivoted onto her own entrepreneurial journey.
And what I have to share in this special series are my stories I shared with her of digging deep to find my purpose, turning my ideas into action, finding the grit and motivation even when I wanted to quit, and attracting others with shared vision to build business together.

| At this time we have an extraordinary opportunity to awaken to new possibility. However, the hardest thing we are dealing with right now is uncertainty. We don’t know when will return to normal. We don’t know if there is a normal to return to. There’s not a lot we can plan and we certainly cannot predict anything. The state of “not knowing” is brutal. It’s ever-present. And, unfortunately, it can make us suffer—greatly. On the other hand, learning to live in uncertainty—and to be okay with not knowing—can be liberating. It can be freeing and joyful. It also be extraordinarily fruitful. Learning to be present in uncertain times is perhaps the most important thing we can practice. Letting go of the need to know how things are going to work out automatically open us up to possibility—immense possibility. Tune in for more… |

Stability. It’s the intersection of strength and flexibility. Tune into this Mini-Message for more on cultivating stability of body and mind.
A verge is a boundary or an edge. It’s a threshold between being over here and over there. The verge is where shift takes place. It’s also where we thrive.
Live, right there—on the verge—on the edge of change, and we come alive.
Embracing change, instead of struggling against it, is the topic of this special episode during which Cara talks about big changes as she transitions out of Verge Yoga, the business she founded over 15 years ago. She shares her dreams and plans as she shifts “beyond the verge,” her process of learning when and how to pivot, and her tender relationship with an uncertain future.
We try. We strive. We keep ourselves busy. We fill our calendars and to-do lists with things to make us feel like we are “doing” something useful and important. Have you ever wondered what would happen if you stopped all of the busyness? In this episode, Cara asks you to take inventory of how you’re spending your precious life and to answer a few thought-provoking questions like:
What if you just stopped doing so much?
What would happen?
Who would notice?
What would it feel like to not push so hard?
Tune in and explore who you are beneath the level of busy with a simple practice called: This is who I am…

Day after day you repeat the same thoughts. Over and over again you may complain, blame, judge and doubt yourself and others. These unhelpful thoughts are exhausting. They drain your energy. And, at the end of the day, these trite little pokes at your self esteem do little to improve your life. In this episode, Cara asks you to take a hard look at your inner critic and name what you are tired of hearing between your ears. For, in the end, we must observe it before we can change it.

In order to succeed at anything, you’ve got to be willing to show up and suck. Eleanor Roosevelt famously said, “Do something that scares you every day” (and be willing to suck at it).
What are you currently doing that scares you—even a little bit? What is making you uncomfortable? In this fiery episode, Cara talks about growth—your growth—and how doing stuff that scares you is the path of growth. Now, if what scares you is taking on a new role, new project or sharing your story in a new way, it’s important to recognize that you may suck at it in the beginning.
Show up anyway.
To avoid completely sucking to the point of no return, Cara references the Flow Trigger called the Challenge to Skills Ratio. By learning to challenge yourself a little bit everyday (4-6% above your skill level), you’ll learn new skills gracefully. In other words, you may suck less.
Show up and suck. You’ll not only feel more awake and energized, you’ll may just find yourself fearlessly creating, singing louder and reaching higher.
The skies the limit.

Megan Rapinoe’s World Cup goal pose is now a meme – as seen in The Daily Dot Strike the pose and unapologetically say to the world, “Here I am.” If you didn’t know her before, you know her now. Megan Rapinoe, is the captain of the US Women’s National Soccer Team. She is also that purple haired, top scoring, and charismatic total badass who has recently inspired women around the globe with “the pose.”
If you’ve watched any of the games, you already know about Megan’s pose.
In this episode Cara takes this new meme a step further to explain why you should practice striking Megan’s pose—every day. When you strike Megan’s pose, when you reach arms out, lift chest high and open your heart like Megan did after scoring a goal, you will unapologetically say to the world, “Here I am.”
You will say:
Here I am and I like who I am.
I like who I am in the world, and I’m going to share my opinion.
I’m going to share my uniqueness.
I’m going to share my purple hair.
I am going to celebrate me.
I am here to shine!
No apologies necessary.
Strike the pose and you reaffirm your confidence—to yourself—and this changes everything.
How Your Biology Becomes Your Psychology Listen to this episode and find out how your physical posture influences how you feel about yourself, what you think, and what you do.
In other words, our biology becomes psychology.
Make your body support your mind and your life will start to shift. Strike the pose consistently and you’ll start to build confidence. You’ll may actually start believing in yourself!
Day after day take those small courageous steps. Day after day throw your arms out and lift your chin. Day after day shine a little brighter.
Give it a try. Strike the pose. Let go of what other people may think. (No one is really thinking about us anyway) Step up on your stage—big or small—throw your arms out, lift your chest, lift your chin and look out at the world with that Megan Rapinoe grin.
Here I am. And I have something to say.
Even if you are the only one listening, it doesn’t matter. Say it anyway.
Strike the pose for you—right now—like you just scored the goal to win your own World Cup.
Warning: Buckle your seatbelt. Practicing the pose will launch your life to a whole new level.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Do you feel exhausted more often than not? If so, the antidote may not be to get more rest. If you feel depleted and exhausted all of the time, you may not need more space or time alone. In this show Cara brings you a passionate talk about about dilemma many of us face day in and day out— feeling overworked and overwhelmed. She also chimes in about a common habit you may have adopted (along with the rest of us). It’s the unskillful (and unattractive) habit of blaming the world for your crappy mood or negative state.
Also, you may be surprised that the cure for exhaustion may not be a catnap or a day off, but rather taking actions that make you feel more alive. In addition, you’ll explore simple daily actions that plug you into your very own “transformer” of energy helping you to recharge and restore your energy.
Lastly, discover how to monitor your state moment to moment and how sensing into when you need a reboot may save you from crashing into destructive states of overwhelm, stress and exhaustion.

Looking to the outside world to make things better? Wake up and try being a self-authoring human being instead. Do you feel overwhelmed, overworked and over scheduled? Do you feel as though there’s not enough time, space or peace in your life? If so, then wake up and tune into this episode. You’ll hear my passionate plea about waking up and becoming a self-authoring and anti-fragile human being.
To start, I ask (if you are) to stop blaming the world for your lack of time, lack of quiet, lack of space, and lack of peace. In other words, stop blaming others. Instead, look at yourself and your life, put your own hands on your own steering wheel and start driving your own life.
Self-Authoring and Anti-Fragile I also beg you (yes, I beg you) to stop looking to the outside world to make things better and instead, be a self-authoring human being. In short, self-authoring means an empowered someone who generates motivation from within. Also, it’s a person who trusts his or her own intelligence above and beyond what the world has to say.
In addition to being self authoring, I encourage you to be anti-fragile. Be that person who is not easily put off or thrown out of whack by external forces, i.e. the angry boss, the upset partner or the cranky kids.
Finally, I remind you that you are “not dead yet” and that you can wake up right now and admit to yourself what is not working in your life. You can look at yourself, lift up the hood of the car, and get underneath and check yourself out (with love and compassion of course!).
Nobody’s going to do this for you. Nobody. There’s no self help book out there that is going to change your life the way that you paying attention to you can.
Give yourself the time and space you need to pause and reflect. Remember that you are not dead yet. There is plenty of life waiting to be lived. So, remember to wake up and pay attention.
Because this is your life. And you are worth it.

Fully Alive, Engaged and Awake: Live at four or five and there’s no stopping you.
Have you ever stopped to ask yourself, “How awake and engaged am I in my life right now?” If you’re like most people, the answer is likely to be not often or never. In this episode, Cara brings you her Aliveness Scale. A way to measure states throughout the day—the Alive Scale is new. You’re getting it hot off the presses and still somewhat unformed (which is sometimes the best, isn’t it?) Here’s her summary:
The Aliveness Scale runs 1 through 5 as follows: 4 and 5: “F” Words Abound!
When we feel “F”-ed.” To be more explicit, at a five we feel Fired up, Fiercely focused, Fully engaged, Fully awake, and IN FLOW. At a five we experience in FULL, or as I write about in On The Verge, with high definition clarity and high voltage energy.
Four, it’s a lighter version of five. Fours are wonderful micro-flow moments, when we feel content and present. For example, at a four we may not feel as “F”-ed up.” Instead, we carry this delightful sense that all is well with the world—for the moment anyway.
1 and 2: Bring on the “D” words
At a one or two on the scale of aliveness, we feel Dull, Disengaged, Disconnected, Disenchanted, Depleted, maybe even a little Depressed. We’re not very engaged, we don’t feel alive and we’re going through the motions.
3 – Meh
Three is where most of us spend most of our time. Right down the center of aliveness. At three, we are “meh” about life. We’re not great and we’re not bad. We may on autopilot or on speed. We live in our heads more than in the present moment. Stuck in our busy minds and numb to to beauty around us, we become proficient little worker bees. In other words, we get shit done.
Live at a three too much of your precious life and you may find yourself telling others how “crazy busy” you are (like the rest of us aren’t busy!). It’s likely you do not take one second to stop and smell the roses, you’re doing too much and feel stressed out all the time. In other words, if you are always overwhelmed , you’re likely hanging out in three way too much.
How to Live a Four or Five Life To live at a four or five more often, you need to notice more and notice everything! Notice when you’re disengaged. Notice when you feel dull. Notice when you feel depleted or overwhelmed And then, do something about it! Make a change, switch your state, go for a walk, tell the truth, get creative, take a nap.
The possibilities are infinite. If you want more ideas, listen to almost every On The Verge podcast.
Let’s take this home. The most important thing you can do to live at a four or five more often, is to STOP WAITING for people to be perfect or for situations to improve. It will never happen, EVER! No one can do this for you. And, it’s not going to magically happen either.
So what do you need to do? Start making your state your priority. Rate your state of aliveness throughout the day. Then, choose where you want to live. Do you really want to hang out in a one or two (in the D words)? Or just barely survive and be “meh” at three? How about you slam it and wake up one day committed to living at a four or five FULLY ENGAGED AND ALIVE?
Here’s the bottom line (if there is a bottom line.) When you start living in four or five more often than not, there is no stopping you. THERE IS NO STOPPING YOU!
Finally, I beg of you, don’t spend the rest of your life at a one, two, or three. Go for the four or five. Because what your world needs MOST is for you to feel FULLY ENGAGED AND ALIVE.

This theory is based on the work of the Godfather of Flow, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and further documented by my friends at the Flow Genome Project.
The Flow Cycle includes four stages:
1. Struggle
2. Release
3. Flow
4. Recover
Plug in those ear buds and listen up to learn how to navigate the highs and lows of your very own Flow Cycle.
Words of wisdom from the Godfather of Flow Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi:
“The best moments in our lives are not the passive, receptive, relaxing times . . . The best moments usually occur if a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile.”
Want more? Here’s a video of the Flow Cycle with Steven Kotler of the Flow Research Collective. As Steven says, “We now know that flow works not like an on-off switch but in a four-part cycle. Understanding these cycles can help you to more often access flow.”
So the next time you feel stretched to you limits remember the Flow Cycle and smile! You may be super close to the inspiration you’ve been waiting for.

Start now. Get going. Stop waiting around for everything to “line up.”
Do you have a great idea for a project, business, lifestyle but can’t seem to jump start it? Or, are you waiting for more information, more expertise, more something? In this episode, Cara talks about how to find the courage to start before you “think” you are ready — a concept she learned from motivational speaker Mel Robbins.
In short, you’re never really going to believe you are ready. There will always be that course you should take before starting your business, the milestone before calling yourself an artist, the money you should save before making that lifestyle change. Furthermore, there will always be something you think needs to happen before you call yourself a writer, artist, entrepreneur, etc.
Cara also explains how most of us doubt our abilities to the point of immobilization. In other words, we can’t and don’t move forward on ideas and dreams until we think we are ready.
Finally, Cara offers solutions to get you started before your think you are ready including how to take daily actions and find flow by challenging yourself 4-6% more every day.

Find out how to use feedback to get clear on what’s holding you back.
We are brilliant beings with intelligence flooding, our systems. 24/7. We each have unique gifts to share with the world—our own unique version of lightness and brightness. However, oftentimes feedback gets in the way.
It happens all the time. We receive constructive criticism and we shut down. We block ourselves from really listening. We hold ourselves back from showing up in our brilliance.
We all do it to some degree. What is blocking you from shining? Is it doubt, fear, old patterns and conditioning? Do place more importance on what others think than what you believe? (Ouch). Is it something you are unwilling to face?
In this episode, Cara does her best to answer these challenging questions. She also gets personal about how she was recently “brought to her knees” after hearing tough feedback and how she let down her guard to see the “truth in the sting.”
Finally she explores how to use honest, and oftentimes painful feedback to learn, grow and to ultimately get out of your own way and how doing so will not only bring clarity to where you’ve been hiding, it will also makes you feel more open, tender and alive.

Find out how to spark aliveness and the sense of optimism, courage, confidence and contentment that comes along with it.
We spend way too much time living in our heads feeling dulled and disconnected. As adults we move further and further away from natural childhood curiosity and excitement. We mute our enthusiasm for the delightfully simple things in life in exchange for getting more stuff done.
In this episode, Cara talks about a better way to live by being a kid again.
Using her life as example, she takes you on a journey of childhood experiences when she felt awake, engaged and fully alive. Furthermore, she points to how we can rekindle our sense of childhood aliveness by paying attention and noticing flow—our optimal state of awareness when we feel and perform our best.
Finally, she explains how not to bypass the extraordinary opportunities happening every day to live in flow by encouraging you to lean into the experience feeling fully alive and the sense of optimism, courage, confidence and contentment that comes along with it.

Find out how to spark your natural seeking curiosity and feel more alive.
Did you know that humans are hard-wired to seek out new and different territories? In other words, we are born naturally curious beings. Being interested in new stuff is our survival mechanism! Unfortunately, as we get older (and busier), we seem to get less curious and more passive. For instance, we may unconsciously jump on Netflix rather than read a non-fiction book, or, scroll through Facebook rather than learn about melting glaciers or the new species of ants recently discovered.
What happened to our natural curiosity—that seeking state we were born with?
In this episode Cara talks about how to re-spark your natural curiosity with a simple protocol. 1) Start by listing 25 topics you are curious about. 2) Create a daily curiosity practice by spending 15 minutes per day on a topic of interest. 3) Enjoy a hit of excitement and a jolt of enthusiasm as you learn and discover new stuff.
Listen and learn how sparking your natural curiosity is an easy way to feel happier and more excited about life.

Your body is telling your story. Before you even open your mouth others can sense who you are. Your state of being walks in the room before you utter a word. Discover how to become fluent in the language of your body by tuning into your nervous system and your state all day long.
In this episode Cara talks about the importance of making our state our priority. She emphasizes how to be stable, clear and calm in order to have a more consistently positive impact on others. She explains how to practice making your optimal states your default states with questions like: where am I, how am I, what needs to change? Do I need to pause, 20 more energy. She encourages to check in with what you may need to do to make a state shift. For example, you may need to do 10 squats to have more uplifted energy before the call. Or maybe you need some silence to settle before the phone call.
Whatever it is, your body is telling your story the moment you walk into a room. What is that story? Are you ready to find out?

Being needy feels creepy—in our bones. Learn how to notice and move past expecting. How does it feel to be needy? Do you feel creepy when you expect, want, hope someone will do something for your benefit? What does it feel like in your body? In this episode Cara explores this provocative phrase she first learned from master coach Rich Litvin. She describes her own experiences of feeling needy and how awfully inauthentic it feels to want others to “do” or “give” you something.
As Rich Litvin wrote, “If you’ve got this sense of extreme need in your mind, your behavior and your communication is going to push the person away. That’s because neediness is creepy.”
