Research from Germany has found that surgeons who listened to AC/DC were more efficient in operating theatres.

The trials out of Heidelberg University found the time surgeons took to make a precision cut were 50 per cent faster but only if the music was played softly in the background.

Cardiologist Dr Ross Walker, a Mozart fan, said about two thirds of operating surgeons will play music in the theatre.

"[The study] suggests it eases stress, relaxes their muscles, combats anxiety and possibly lowers the blood pressure," Dr Walker told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast.
