Gary Adshead got hot under the collar at a study that produced positive findings about vapes and e-cigarettes which are used by Australian academics and was published in an Australian academic journal.
Foundation for a Smoke Free World, which is solely funded by cigarette maker Philip Morris, conducted the study, sparking Gary's confusion and fury at the matter.
Founding chairman of the Australian Tobacco Harm Reduction Association, Dr Colin Mendelsohn, says there is no conflict of interest between the foundation's overall goals and the article.
"If their goals align with public health then we have to be open to that - they're trying to research safer alternatives to cigarettes so people can switch away from the deadly products," Dr Mendelsohn said.
