A new national study released today that surveyed Australian pet owners and veterinarians has revealed an alarming trend of poor mental health among those that tend our pets.
Swanbourne Veterinary Centre and resident 6PR vet Tony Vigano told Liam Bartlett on Mornings that most vets were left to their own devices and had sole responsibility of vet clinics, creating considerable pressure and stress, while having access to dangerous drugs.
"I've had quite close experiences with young veterinarians in a fit of depression going back to the practice at night, probably after a few drinks, and having access to [drugs] and to have done away with themselves in a fit of depression," he said.
