Nate Schenkkan, director for special research at Freedom House, explained to Ahval editor David Lepeska that the European Court of Human Rights this week made a very decisive ruling in regards to jailed Turkish philanthropist Osman Kavala, that Turkey’s media muzzling has largely succeeded and that in crafting their Turkey policy, U.S. officials should not fear being seen as coup plotters.
