NEW YORK COMBOS 004

Okay, it doesn't get any more local than this. Eli Paperboy Reed is my neighbor. We live on the same floor in the same building in Brooklyn.

We figured out that we both did music when we happened to ride the elevator at the same time. Eli was carrying a golden vintage amp that seemed like he got from a genie. I was like "sup with that amp?" Got to talking, connected the dots, ate some dinners, linked up to make beats out of Eli's crazy 45 collection, and bada bing bada boom, you've got this track.

This song was the first thing we tried together, and I mean, that opening loop is so fire it's hard to go wrong. Still, we chopped drums from further 45 adventures, added keys & xtra drums, and Eli played live bass and sang additional vocals. That extra singing isn't the record, that's him.

Also rappers, I mean, let's go, listen to this thing, holla at me - let's make a classic.

Eli's latest album 99 Cent Dreams is out now (ft. Big Daddy Kane!) https://open.spotify.com/album/4NiDHkSH6sPpqdzYNp62bA?si=P4PoLvYoQVqCW4dl1k6ZBA
