In this episode we join Dr. Britt Lundgren, an astronomer and astrophysicist, as she discusses her ongoing and previous research using data from both the Hubble Space Telescope and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. Dr. Lundgren also introduces us to the limitations of current computing and tech in the world of astronomy and the cutting-edge steps professional astronomers are taking to prepare the field for the next generation. Along with her passion for astronomy, Dr. Lundgren discusses interest in re-invigorating the field of physics and astronomy in the university classroom through testing innovative pedagogical methods.
Dr. Britt Lundgren is an Assistant Professor in UNC Asheville’s Department of Physics, Britt is also currently serving as the Co-Chair for Education and Public Outreach for the fourth generation of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV).
