Don't we all experience this? You do or say something and a little later you regret doing so. Sometimes you experience a threat and you take a defensive stance. This track tries to translate this feeling into sound.
Strange world, strange times. Sometimes you're not feeling understood or appreciated. Saying or writing about how you feel, when you're a bit down, is frowned upon. The world has to be full of happy human robots, who keep on going and laughing no matter what happens. "Human Machines" reminds us how we can perform our best "happy" robot dance ...

People can sometimes be so apathetic. Just accepting everything as long as it is repeated often enough by someone or if the media keeps on telling the same story over and over. Life just continues... Or is there a spark of curiosity, some emotion left?
"There is no Planet B", it's something we hear often. That's quite right. We only have our "Planet E (arth)". This track perhaps belongs to the "Sound Journey" tracks (1-4) of this and previous albums. But don't be too negative. Sometimes having a (small) party is allowed too. So put that volume knob a little bit clockwise, a tad further towards maximum and feel the bass- and acidline ...
Society is a strange thing. Sometimes everything around us appears threatening. A little later our surroundings look inviting again. The search for that balance, that fine line between what's ok, what isn't."Moving Society", in which way is society moving us. Or was it an attempt from us to move society in a different direction?
When I was asking around, while I was busy creating sounds and composing what later on would become the mixed track "The Journey Continues", how people felt about 2017, the answer was mostly negative or very mixed up. It's on this mixed up feeling that "Sadness and Joy" was based. Sometimes we encounter or see very threatening events happening around us, which causes loss and sadness. On the other hand, there is that little sparkle of hope, a pleasure, the emergence of a dream. I have tried to translate these mixed emotions and feelings to sound which I captured in this track.
This track actually exists of four mixed individual tracks. It started to grow as an idea to continue the sound wave journey, started in the 2016-2017 album with the tracks "Supernova Phase 1/2/3 & Starflight in mind".

This is a soundscape, or drone if you will. After "Starflight" of the previous album, the navigation systems crashed during the sound wave journey. Covered in "Stardust" we are gliding further into space, just following beacons ...
Quantum Particles - Electronic/Synthesizer - 2’28” - 8’03”
Engines are at full power, navigation is back online, but something mysterious is happening. Tiny particles, not visible to the naked eye, are penetrating our ship. Quantum Particles, we try to analyse, to comprehend them. We even fear them a bit, but they look interesting. Can we use them ? What are they doing ?
Cosmic Rays - Electronic/Synthesizer - 8’04” - 13’40”
We barely started to comprehend the basics of the Quantum Particles when we noticed a breach. Rays are entering our ship, even worse, Cosmic Rays, also invisible but very dangerous to us. We have to escape...
End Of Flight(?) - Electronic/Synthesizer - 13’10 - 18’58”
After all these dangerous adventures, the journey can continue again. We glide next to satellites, meteors and planets. Stars are rushing by. Everything turns into chaos, should we continue ? Or will this be the end of the journey ?
Based on reality. And I had this going through my mind for a while now. Military men with guns in the street. Can they really protect us ? Or is it just a lie, to make us feel safe. Actually, several times it appeared to be the latter. Look at stories in the news, a lot of anger, hate and terrorism is happening around us. A lot of people are afraid and whenever something happened, even at the other side of the world, people got more and more afraid. And the government, what are they really doing ?

"Fake", the fashionword for 2017, and as well the expression of 2018 already. Everthing we do is 'fake'. If we question certain actions, it's 'fake'. Fake News, Fake People, ... . So for this track, the expert on fakeness was consulted.

When asking about how people felt about what happened in 2017 one of those things that was answered very often was "I feel pressure, a lot of pressure". Pressure to be good and very fast at work. The pressure to have that perfect home, that perfect family. To live that perfect life. No mistakes allowed. But on the other hand, getting anxiety about how to reach those goals, how to manage this in 24 hours a day. The clock keeps inevitably ticking and the (social) society are watching ... "Society's Pressure"

Last two years I wasn't able to share some tracks, due to health reasons and too many visits at the hospital. I'm not fully recovered yet, but this year I insisted on creating a new EP for you all. I hope you will enjoy the soundwaves shaped into these four tracks, ranging from synthesizer, ambient to electronic body music (EBM) and trance/dance. Have a wonderful 2016 !
