Click Here Get Notes by EmailToday:  There are countless articles about how to handle yourself during a traffic stop when you are carrying a gun legally… 90% of them are junk.  This podcast will give you a new way to look at your interaction with a police officer so you don’t get killed by mistake.  Take a look at what you are doing.

Like most things in self defense, if you plan ahead a little by thinking about what you are going to do, there won’t be a problem.

The secret to learning how to deal with a cop during a traffic stop is to think like a cop.  We get into how cops think, why they do what they do on traffic stops, why they might not be officer friendly at first, and what you can do to help your situation.

With a couple tips thrown in on how to get out of a ticket.

The Caliber of the Episode: .215 better known as the 5.45x39

Developed by Russia in the 1970’s to be faster and lighter Deployed in 1974 for the AK-74 West Germany and other Western Europian nations didn’t want to call it the 5.45x39 because that’s what the eastern block called it, so it was called .215 The name went away in the 90’s ATF ruling in 2014 Review asked by Border Patrol

Think like a Cop to know how to work with one

Top things that cops get killed doing or injured; traffic stops and domestic violence calls They are looking for bad guys

Not to be just ready, they are actively searching for bad guys to pull over and arrest 3 Strikers They have no idea who they are dealing with in the stop

They assume you are going to try and hurt them, that’s how they stay on top of the situation if it goes bad Who knows what happened yesterday or at the last stop for this cop or his/her friends They have studied a bunch of shooting and cop murders that started at a traffic stop Older cops where taught only bad guys and cops carry guns… if you aren’t a cop and have a gun…

Don’t do Anything that would push you into a bad guy look

Friend at the police academy go pulled over and put his hands on the roof of the car as the cops where coming up Nothing unusual; if you are carrying a gun you have enough to deal with that is out of the ordinary

Do’s and Don’t’s

Do put on your blinker and slow down once you know you are getting pulled over Don’t start driving crazy and staring at the cop in the mirror, you look like you can’t drive or are ready to flee Do pull over in a place that is out of traffic and will be safe for you and the police officer, even if you have to go through the construction zone to get to an exit or where there is a shoulder to pull out of traffic Don’t block traffic unless told to do so Do put the vehicle in park, roll down your window, and put your hands on the steering wheel and wait Don’t be fishing for things inside the car while the cop is walking up Do be nice to the cop Don’t have an attitude Do have the car off Don’t be trying to get stuff for the officer (Philando Castile MN, Eric Scott Las Vegas) Do let the cop know that you have a gun Don’t let the cop find it on his own, or make him/her ask Do follow the cop’s instructions Don’t say I can’t Do talk through what you are doing as you are doing it ...
