I like to fly wherever I want, so I would make a poor companion.”</p> <p>“I suppose that’s my answer.”</p> <p>The butterfly laughed. “The important thing is what <em>you</em> think about it. You have two cats.”</p> <p>“They aren’t <em>wild animals</em> per se. Then again, they were probably born in the woods. I’m convinced there’s a feral cat colony out there somewhere.”</p> <p>“I see. Feral cats sound wild to me. They should be allowed to run wherever they want.”</p> <p>“It’s their choice to live here. They stay because I give them food and shelter, and they’ve become domesticated. Still, they’re not pets, they’re roommates.”</p> <p>The butterfly scowled. “It is just as well. Cats are dangerous. They catch and eat my brethren for sport.
