I've really been taught that getting answers to your prayers and understanding truth is about asking inspired questions. This is done in companionship with the Holy Spirit prompting and guiding your thoughts and words. God will always hear your prayers but he may be asking you to "grow up" in your spirituality and communication so that more truth, depth, and answers can come into your life.
