In 1998 Scot Benton was hit by a car, landing him in a coma for three months. After he awoke, he found himself having to relearn the basics of life as an adult. Prior to the accident, Scot had raced bikes regionally and nationally for 15 years. Scot used his second chance at life to combine his passion for bikes and passion for members of his community.

In 2009 Scot founded Bicycle House in his hometown of Tallahassee Florida. The organization's main goal is to provide free bikes for people who are in need of a form of transportation but cannot attain it themselves (reasons ranging from homelessness, transitioning employment, losing driving privileges, and a host of others). Bicycle House also strives to be a positive center of the community; bringing people together from all walks of life.
