This Earth Day, What are your ideas for "practising sustainability at home?" Please share with us. We will explore one idea every week.April 22nd is Earth day. A day on which all of us humans have collectively decided to honour and cherish mother Earth. On this earth day, let us begin a love revolution for mother Earth from our homes. Let us call it "practising sustainability at home". In 1968, 3 astronauts left the earth on the space ship Apollo 8, to discover the moon. But that Christmas Eve, as they looked at the bleak land scape of the moon, they suddenly saw our beautiful blue planet emerged from the far side of the moon. That was the first time, they beheld our beautiful delicate planet suspended in darkness against the lifeless Rocky moon. They discovered our earth instead. And the one photograph they took of the Earth Rise that day, was so powerful it stopped the continuation of a war. It started the global environmental movement. So what happened that day? Humanity for the first time felt that this delicate earth, our beautiful home had to be protected from harm at any cost. It was like a mother's love and protective feeling when she holds her new born baby. She feels such affection for her baby, she vows she would do anything to protect her. 22nd April is Earth day. The earth is our mother who breathes life into us and who sustains us and who holds our bodies in her bosom even after we die. The earth is also our child whom we need to protect from harm. It is our earth. The past days we have been journeying through spiritual evolution during crisis. Let us take our evolution further to avoid a future planetary crisis. Spirituality is synonymous with awareness. Awareness of our Perception & emotion in our inner world and Awareness of our action and its impact in the outer world. Starting today, let us begin a revolutionary practice to preserve, to protect, to nurture the one home for all living beings - ‘PRACTICING SUSTAINABILITY AT HOME’The practice begins with a simple awareness - the awareness of the interconnection of all life. I believe this knowing serves as a foundation for a better, more harmonious earth. This understanding is also essential for any acts of compassion. Each week, let us connect to one generous act for Mother Earth and offer gratitude. Return her kindness with your action of sustainability. There are many simple acts of sustainability that everyone can practice at home. If you found practicing sustainability challenging, it’s not because you can’t live otherwise, but because we did not live the earth enough. It is because we did not realise the impending danger that may strike all of us. Dear young people of the world, let us make practising sustainability at home, a massive revolution. Please share with us every idea you have for every human being to make small shifts, meaningful shifts and joyful shifts that would make our own lives and our earth more beautiful. Let each of us do our part. What are your ideas for "practising sustainability at home?" Please share with us. We will explore one idea every week. Namaste
