It's turning into A Very Special Throwback Series for the Dallas Stars. They took Western Conference Finals-style revenge on the Vegas Golden Knights. They struck down a longtime foe and legendary rival in the Colorado Avalanche.

The one period of Game 1 in which the Dallas Stars should have expected more goals than the Colorado Avalanche was overtime – i.e., the period in which they ultimately lost the match. It's just one of the infuriating twists that the postseason will throw at you, if you get that far.

But here at Stargazing, there’s no problem so big or small that it can’t be discussed to death. So this week, Wes and Mark take the pulse of the currently Hintz-less Stars and look for signs of trouble. In this episode:

The Dallas Stars can’t win a Stanley Cup playoffs spot in the next six games. However, they can lose one. It will all come down to whether they can shake off whatever bad mojo they’re dealing with and make that move to shut down the suffering Columbus Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings.
But honest-to-Pete elites Ben Bishop and Alexander Radulov are done for the season, and depth defender Sami Vatanen was the Stars’ only NHL trade deadline acquisition. Do they have enough left in the tank to scoop up at least nine of the next 12 available points?

The Dallas Stars made a lot of magic during this improbable run to the Stanley Cup Final. They beat two heavy Cup favorites in the Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights. They won that Western Conference championship that has seemed so close, yet so far, for so long.
They’d also had quite a bit of it beaten out of them by the end – and let’s face it, this injury-depleted roster probably never should have gotten to Game 6 against a Tampa Bay Lightning squad that probably should have won it all last year.
