On this week’s arts-filled episode we fea­ture four inter­views! The first two sur­round the screen­ing of the film titled ​“We are the Roots: Black Set­tlers and their Expe­ri­ences of Dis­crim­i­na­tion on the Cana­di­an Prairies” which will be screened in the GSA Lounge Feb. 28 as part of the university’s cel­e­bra­tion of Black His­to­ry Month. The co-lead on the project, Uni­ver­si­ty of Leth­bridge pro­fes­sor Jen­na Bai­ley, spoke (2:43) about the work that went into the film. Myr­na Don­ald of the U of M’s Black His­to­ry Month com­mit­tee orga­nized the screen­ing, and she also spoke (10:29) about the mean­ing of the film. The final two inter­views are with acts from Fes­ti­val du Voyageur’s (FDV) 2019 line­up. First we spoke with local Win­nipeg band Mont­golfière (16:17), and capped it off with a chat with Mon­tréal-based musi­cian Anom­alie (22:33). Both spoke about their music, as well as their Fes­ti­val experience.
