On today’s episode for our first sto­ry we have three inter­views: one with Indige­nous stu­dent coor­di­na­tor for the nurs­ing stu­den­t’s asso­ci­a­tion Riv­er Steele Guil­las, one with head of the depart­ment of native stud­ies Cary Miller, and one with UMSU pres­i­dent Jakob Sander­son. All inter­views were in response to the posters dis­cov­ered bear­ing the phrase, ​“It’s OK to be White”. Our sec­ond sto­ry cov­ers the cur­rent pod­cast avail­able through UMFM titled ​“Mino­gondaa­gan: the Good Voice”. A pod­cast about rec­on­cil­i­a­tion, we talked to Elis­sa Black Wolf Kix­en, exec­u­tive pro­duc­er of the pod­cast, and Sasha Mark, asso­ciate pro­duc­er. Our third sto­ry is in regards to the recent astron­o­my open house host­ed at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Man­i­to­ba on Oct. 31 by staff from the astron­o­my depart­ment and the Win­nipeg chap­ter of the Roy­al Astro­nom­i­cal Soci­ety of Cana­da. We spoke to Danielle Pahud, an instruc­tor in the U of M’s physics and astron­o­my depart­ment and is in charge of the Lock­hart plan­e­tar­i­um, and Bryan Stach, vice-pres­i­dent of the Win­nipeg chap­ter of the Roy­al Astro­nom­i­cal Soci­ety of Cana­da. We close the show with a quick chat with Nahlah Ayed, to talk about how she end­ed up in a career of jour­nal­ism and becom­ing an inter­na­tion­al correspondent.
