What I am about to say may sound strange coming from a fellow who, by virtue of age, is a lot closer to heaven than most of you…but here it is: “I like it here.”  I like living on earth.  Sure, sometimes having a new body would be nice, and this old sinful world does get a bit depressing on occasion, but this is a great place to live.  I like the meadows and the hills.  I like to flowers and the trees.  I like to hear the birds sing…and I am also rather fond of butterflies and doughnuts.  Why should I like all this stuff?  I am a born-again child of God.  Why does all this physical stuff appeal to someone who should be walking in the spirit?

If I could eliminate one belief about heaven, it would be the heresy that the physical world is an enemy of God’s redemptive plan.  Actually, the redeemed physical world is a central part of God’s plan.  I invite you to join me for this weeks edition ofPathLight.
