When Christ appeared to the disciples as they hid behind the closed doors it was not the first time Peter had seen Him after His resurrection. There was a private appearance to Peter. The gospels are completely silent as to the details of this meeting.
Luke merely wrote:
“. . . the Lord has risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.”
Luke 24:34
Somewhere along the way on that first day of the week, even before the Lord met the Emmaus Road disciples, even before the Lord appeared to the others behind the closed doors, He had already appeared to Peter.
On the day that changed the world, Jesus took time to personally appear to Simon Peter.
I can't help but wonder how this encounter between Jesus and Peter occurred. Maybe Peter was haunted by the things that had happened.
