This is day 244 of our journey.
Today's reading begins with a vivid picture of the coming conquest of Israel and Judah. The sword of judgement is being sharpened and polished for war. It does not respect the scepter. All people will be cut off and consumed. Ezekiel continues by expounding the sins of Jerusalem, the city is full of people who engage in evil practices. They engage in adulterous relationships, murder, and practice extortion and robbery. They will be thrown into the fire of God's fury to repay them for the wrong they have done. We end today's reading with another vivid picture. Samaria and Jerusalem are two sisters, they have both engaged in prostitution. They have sought the handsome young men of Assyria, Babylon, and Egypt. They have engaged in vile acts and have defiled themselves with the enemies of God. Now, those same young men will come and ravage their cities and their people.
Join me in Ezekiel 21-23 and mourn the helpless state of Israel.
