This is day 243 of our journey.
In Ezekiel 18, God makes it clear that he punishes those that deserve it and that each person is punished for his own sins (not for the sins of his father or of his children). But, if a person repents and turns from his sin, he will no longer be punished, his sins will be forgiven and forgotten! Ezekiel 19 is a lament for the princes of Israel. They were once strong, but they have been torn down and destroyed. Ezekiel 20 relates the long history of Israel rebelling against the commands of the Lord. In all these things, God worked for the sake of his own reputation. At times, this meant withholding judgement against Israel to serve a greater purpose (even though they deserved punishment for their sins). At other times, it meant punishing his people for walking away from him. No matter the circumstance, God is working for the sake of his own name and glory!
