This is day 175 of our journey.

Today we read only 2 psalms, both written by Asaph.

Psalm 78 is a lengthy didactic psalm rehearsing Israel's history.  It praises God for his power, goodness and patience, but also reminds his audience that sin angers God and prompts his judgement.  In the conclusion, Asaph elevates Jerusalem as God's chosen city and David as his chosen king.

In Psalm 79, Asaph laments how the invading nations have destroyed the temple and city of Jerusalem.  He asks God to forgive his people and to pour out his vengeance on those who have mistreated them.
